Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 20-26, and National PTA is proud to celebrate all of the passionate volunteers who we love to PTA with! The power of PTA comes from you, our volunteers, and we are filled with gratitude to champion the PTA mission alongside you.

It takes a special type of person to step up and lean in, so let’s show our amazing PTA volunteers how much we appreciate their tireless work and dedication! From organizing events and membership drives to bridging gaps between families and educators, the work of our volunteers often goes far beyond our recognition. Take time this week to honor and celebrate the volunteers who you love to PTA with!

2025 Volunteer Appreciation Week

Ideas for STUDENTS/FAMILIES to show appreciation:


  • Handwritten Thanks: Write a thank you note to someone who volunteers their time.
  • Creative Art Gifts: Kids can create art projects like paintings, collages, or crafts as unique gifts to show their appreciation.
  • Baked Goods: Homemade cookies, cakes, or breads can be a warm and personal way to say thank you. Children can help in the baking and decorating process.
  • Garden Gifts: Families can pot plants or create small garden arrangements. This can be a symbol of growth and nurturing, reflecting the volunteers' contributions to the community.

Ideas for SCHOOL-WIDE appreciation:


  • Volunteer Spotlight: Use the school’s newsletter, website, or social media to feature stories, interviews, and photos of volunteers, detailing their contributions and impact on the school community.
  • Special Volunteer Breakfast or Lunch: Host a catered meal in honor of the volunteers. This could be a breakfast at the start of the school day or a special lunch where school leaders and students can mingle with volunteers.
  • Appreciation Assembly: Organize a special assembly where students and staff can express their gratitude through speeches, performances, and presentations highlighting the volunteers' contributions.
  • Thank You Video: Have students and teachers create a video with messages of thanks, showcasing how volunteer efforts have directly impacted their school experience.

National Volunteer Week (April 20-26), established in 1974, allows us to celebrate PTA volunteers all week long who have made strides to improve the future of children all over the country. PTA leaders have always been the backbones of their communities and have worked to create positive change in the lives of children. PTA families have gone above and beyond working to make every child’s potential a reality.
